Textile workshop: Colours of Nature

Colours of Nature is a hands-on textile workshop led by textile designer Emma Collins, inviting participants to explore colour through natural dyes, craft and material storytelling. Taking place at Nomad Day Bar at 25hours Hotel Paper Island, the workshop offers a quiet pause from the pace of everyday life and a chance to reconnect with colour in a tactile, intuitive way.

Rooted in traditional dyeing techniques and contemporary design thinking, the session encourages curiosity rather than perfection. Prepared natural dye baths are ready on arrival, allowing participants to experiment freely with fabric, time and technique. Coastal tones, weathered surfaces and everyday textures found around Paper Island gently inform the colour palette, creating a close connection between place, process and outcome.

Throughout the workshop, Emma shares insight from her background in textile design and material research, guiding the group while leaving plenty of space for personal exploration. There is no fixed result to work towards; instead, participants are encouraged to respond to the materials and let the process unfold naturally.

Each guest will leave with a small collection of hand-dyed samples and a unique outcome shaped by the moment. The workshop is open to all levels and designed to feel thoughtful, relaxed and exploratory. Join us for an afternoon of colour, craft and creative connection at Paper Island.
