Incontro provides low-threshold outreach work and holistic support for the needy, homeless, addicts and undocumented migrants. Founded in 2001 by Sister Ariane, the association is now run by her and Father Karl Wolf. The daily work in Zurich’s Langstrasse district is supported by many volunteers.
The services offered include Broken Bread, a daily food distribution, Lokal Primero, a place to meet with counselling, courses and church services, as well as supported living for people in difficult life situations.
Incontro is non-denominational and relies on donations and voluntary work. The 25hours Hotel Langstrasse allows the association to use the space behind the hotel building and provides storage space for the association’s goods free of charge. The restaurant NENI Zurich provides meals at affordable prices and supports the project with food donations.
