The painter Olga Kundina has been invited to the Hotel Residence as the third member of the Israeli artists’ group New Barbizon. Together with Zurich artist Maria Pomiansky, Olga Kundina roams the city with felt-tip pens, watercolour and paper, sketching the Zurich summer on the Limmat or the women at the „Seebadi Enge“ (lakeside resort Enge) in quick strokes. Olga’s observations from her studio window in the hotel, with a direct view of the tracks and train traffic, capture the hotel staff smoking during their break and the daily queue of people taking free food in front of the studio in an expressive figurative painting style and in powerful colours on canvas.
At the end of her residency, Olga Kundina presents her view of the city, captured with the eyes of an artist who translates what is happening around her directly and without distance into art: Life.
