Born here — still exploring every corner

How do I get around

My main transport is bike. Copenhagen is easy, quick and fun to ride through. When I do not bike, I walk. The city is flat, compact and full of side streets worth exploring. Most places I like are close by. Guests can borrow a Schindelhauer bike from the hotel and see it for themselves. I also take the electric harbour bus. It is a calm ride across the water with great views. It stops near Refshaleøen, where something new is always happening.

Be cool and Nordic

Copenhagen style is simple, functional and made to last. I like places that feel honest and well made.

— H. Skjalm P. I go there for kitchenware, ceramics and good basics. Everything has that clean Danish look.
Nikolaj Plads 9, 1067 Indre By

— Copenhagen Contemporary. Always gives me a break from the busy streets. Big space, nice art and a calm café by the water.
Refshalevej 173A, 1432 København

I also like walking through Christianshavn and it is close to the hotel. It has canals, old buildings and a quiet local feel. A good place to slow down.
Værnedamsvej is where I go for lunches, coffee and quick shopping. The street has charm, but it is still casual. French cafés next to wine shops and fashion stores — all packed into a short stretch.

Hygge at home

My place is a classic Copenhagen apartment. High ceilings, wooden floors and a small bathroom that makes you laugh. I like to mix things. Most of my furniture is family heritage and second hand. I go for pieces with some wear and story.

— B&W Hallerne on Refshaleøen is one of the best spots. You have to dig a bit, but that is part of the fun.
Refshalevej 175, 1432 København

— For new Danish design, I go to Vestergaard Møbler, near Christianshavn square. Timeless furniture, good light and calm atmosphere.
Torvegade 55-57, 1400 København

I collect art slowly. Some are prints, others are upcommers works or odd pieces I find by chance. They all bring life into the flat.

Soak up the sun, while you can

When the sun shows up, I head outside. You have to catch it when you can.

— I often stop by La Banchina. A swim, something simple to eat, maybe a glass of wine.
Refshalevej 141, 1432 København.

— The street food markets around town are also good. Fast, easy, and there is always something for every taste. On slower days, I like to go out to Dragør Havn. It feels far, but it is close.

— Have lunch at Gabriel Jensens Traktørsted. Local food, quiet setting and no fuss. After that, I take a dip or look through the small town shops.
