Beyond the city boundaries…
A cool destination for an excursion outside the city is the Museum Insel Hombroich. The large site, located in Neuss-Holzheim, was formerly a NATO missile base and Langen Foundation and now serves as a modern art museum — magnificent artwork amidst tremendous architecture and scenery.

Perfect view…
I take in the entire city from Paradiesstrand beach, a fine, sandy urban oasis where you can even find a quiet spot at the height of peak season in the summer. From here, you have a fantastic view of the Düsseldorf skyline and that sheer holiday feeling. Alternatively, you can also enjoy a good view from Fortuna Büdchen, at Joseph-Beuys-Ufer. And you can also get a cold beer and a snack to go with it here.

For Art and & Culture Aficionados
There are many pockets of culture in Düsseldorf, such as Brause, a small art association in Bilk. The nonprofit organisation offers (music) events to suit every taste, video game nights, in addition to contemporary art. This cultural gem can be found under the name Metzgerei Schnitzel, on Bilker Allee. Highly recommended if you are keen to see something completely different.
