Morning
I start my day with a jog from the HafenCity to the Fischmarkt and back. Then I treat myself with a full breakfast at the hotel restaurant heimat. Afterwards I borrow a bike at the reception and take a ride through the centre of Hamburg along the Alster and through the beautiful backstreets of Winterhude over to Eppendorf.
Noon
The following highlights are along this route: great shops at Neuer Wall and Grosse Bleichen with a detour past Thomas-i-Punkt on Mönckebergstrasse.

It’s always worth peaking in at the Bucerius Kunst Forum at Rathausmarkt.

Afterwards I take a break at Café Bodo’s Bootssteg on the Outer Alster and enjoy gazing at the passing boats.

After that my bike zigs and zags me through the elegant streets of Harvestehude or I park the bike and sail a few stations along the Alster. When the weather’s nice, I love a little shopping trip from Klosterstern along Eppendorfer Baum and its beautiful backstreets. From Eppendorf, there’s a bridge across to Winterhude.
Afternoon
Now it’s time to enjoy an espresso, have some ice cream and wander down Poelchaukamp and Mühlenkamp.
Evening
I either eat dinner at the hotel restaurant heimat or I treat myself visiting the Hafensauna with its harbour view and then catch dinner at Café Paris. Café Paris is a former butcher around the corner from Rathausmarkt and only a ten-minute walk from the hotel (the oysters, the steak-frites-salade or a freshly prepared- at-the-table tartar couldn’t be better in Paris).

Afterwards it’s time to go to the bar at the Bullerei in the Schanze. Especially Sunday evenings.
