A perfect day in the life of

Yovani Say

For breakfast

The best — and most delicious — way to start the weekend is with a hearty breakfast at Café Glücklich. The name says it all here: it translates to Happy Café! It’s a sure-fire hit with its heavenly homemade cakes (which aren’t just highly recommended for brunch, but also with your afternoon coffee).

A stroll through the city

During a stroll through the city (make sure you also head into the New Old Town!), a short break at Kaffee Wacker for the best coffee in the entire city is pretty much obligatory. The family-run roasting house is a Frankfurt institution and if all of the (few) seats are full, you can happily enjoy your coffee outside in the sunshine. In the adjacent shop you can buy the best coffee from all over the world (including from my homeland of Guatemala).

— Kaffee Wacker. Kornmarkt 9

For lunch

For lunch, it’s no longer a secret that the Kleinmarkthalle indoor market or the market on Konstablerwache (Thursdays and Saturdays) are THE places to go. Whether it’s seasonal delicacies, regional dishes or exotic snacks, there’s something to satisfy everyone here.

— Kleinmarkthalle. Hasengasse 5-7

In the evening

In the evening, a Frankfurter Schnitzel and a jug of Apfelwein (apple wine) at Zum Gemalten Haus is always a safe bet. Another apple wine tavern with a high entertainment factor (prepare to be surprised!) is the Ebbelwoi Unser. Refined German cuisine with a modern twist and a fantastic view of Frankfurt can be found at Franziska in the Henninger Turm (Henninger Tower). For a nightcap, head to the Alte Liebe.
