Nippon Connection: A Samurai in Time

At the end of the Edo period, the samurai Kosaka receives an order to kill a ronin. However, a sudden lightning strike catapults him into present-day Kyoto, specifically onto the set of a historical film. Clad in full armour, the crew mistakes him for an extra and hires him. Shocked by the demise of the Shogunate, Kosaka must find his way in this new world. Junichi Yasuda’s charming homage to the endangered genre of the Japanese samurai film won the NIPPON CINEMA AWARD 2025.

A Samurai In Time as written and directed by Junichi Yasuda and released in 2023, starring Makiya Yamaguchi, Norimasa Fuke, Yoshiharu Fukuda, and many more. It’s 131 minutes long and will be shown in its original language with German subtitles. Not approved for under 18 years.

Doors open 7pm, screening starts 8pm, ends approximately 10.30pm. Drinks, snacks, and even popcorn will be available at the Nomad Day Bar in the lobby on the ground floor. Entrance is free, registration required. Hotel guests may join spontaneously, please just contact the front desk.
