Düsseldorf is home to Germany’s largest Japanese community. More than 8,000 Japanese live in the state capital and shape the vibrant Little Tokyo. Anyone who longs for the liveliness of Asian metropolises will find it here. Nowhere else in Europe is Japanese life as concentrated in one neighborhood as it is here. Excellent restaurants and izakayas (Japanese pubs) serve authentic Japanese cuisine, which was declared a World Intangible Heritage Site in 2013. Ramen snack bars, bakeries, bars, hotels, supermarkets and bookstores offer a unique Japanese atmosphere between the main train station and the city center along Immermannstrasse and Klosterstrasse. In addition, Japan enthusiasts, but also nature lovers, should definitely visit the Japanese Garden.
