There are a few things that families visiting Cologne with young children should definitely experience. The cathedral city follows the motto “Kölle hät e Hätz förde Pänz” (Cologne has a heart for the children). The Phantasialand theme park may not be in Cologne itself, but can easily be reached using public transport. The place to be for adrenaline junkies. Kölner Zoo (Cologne Zoo) is open all year round. Here, you can watch the clawed otters being fed, or visit the famous FC Köln mascot, Hennes the goat.

If you have a thirst for knowledge

Cologne is home to a number of museums that will keep the kids entertained. The Chocolate Museum isn’t only for those who have a sweet tooth. It also offers lots of useful information about the cocoa bean and its uses. At the Odysseum Adventure Museum, there are over 150 interactive areas, educating the little ones in an informative and lifelike way. Sports fans can experience 3,000 years in the history of sport at the German Sportand Olympics Museum. The Strassenbahnmuseum (public transport museum) is also worth a visit. Time really flies there. Food & Drink

The cafés Fräulein Frida and Halli Galli may be situated a little further away from the city centre, but offer excellent play areas and ample space for prams and baby changing facilities. Halli Galli is especially worth visiting on a rainy day. They even have an indoor pirate playground with a ball pool.
