Erik Høegh-Andersen
Vicar of Trinitatis Church — takes care of everything spiritual.
A brief chat with our blessed neighbour
25h: Hi Erik. We’re so honoured to have you as our neighbour. Could you introduce yourself to our hotel guests?
Erik: Hi. My name is Erik Høegh-Andersen. I am the vicar in the parish of Trinitatis Church.
25h: How long have you been living in Copenhagen?
Erik: I have been living in central Copenhagen for 5 years and in greater Copenhagen for 45 years.
25h: What do you think is the most outstanding thing about the Trinitatis Church?
Erik: It is really fascinating that Christian IV built the church and the tower as a trinity-complex – with an observatory in the top of the tower, with a very large library for the book collection belonging to the King and the University in the attic above the church, and a church for the students and the professors at the University. According to Christian IV science, wisdom and faith were connected as a Trinity, just as the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. It is outstanding as well to sit in one of the most beautiful churches in Copenhagen listening to a concert with some of the best musicians or singers in Denmark.
25h: What is your favourite memory of the old University?
Erik: The many exiting and far-reaching discussions between the professors and the students, as well as the small talks in the corners and during the morning coffee.
25h: What is your favourite spot in the city?
Erik: In Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek there is a Winter Garden with mosaic floors, tall palms, a fountain and wonderful sculptures. Around the Winter Garden there is a museum with remarkable collections of Antique art and French painting and sculpture from the 19th century.
25h: Which place do you recommend every friend that comes to the visit?
Erik: I always invite my guests to walk up the wide spiral path to the top of the Round Tower where you have a spectacular view over roof tops and towers and parks of Copenhagen.
25h: Thank you for explaining to us what makes the church and the round tower so special and meaningful to you and the city. We are looking forward to seeing you around in the future and surely a few of our hotel guests will find their way to you to experience the grand neighbour with their own eyes.
