Gegr\u00fcndet wurde Christianshavn Anfang des 17. Jahrhunderts von Christian IV. im Rahmen der Erweiterung der Kopenhagener Befestigungsanlagen. Urspr\u00fcnglich war es als unabh\u00e4ngige privilegierte Kaufmannsstadt nach dem Vorbild niederl\u00e4ndischer St\u00e4dte angelegt.
